LUNAFEST is a fundraising shorts film festival dedicated to championing women filmmakers and bringing people together in their communities.
Brentwood Social House and Girls That Create are thrilled to announce we're hosting an in-person LUNAFEST on Friday, October 21, benefiting nonprofits Austin Bat Cave and Chicken & Egg Pictures.
Filmmaker Sharon Arteaga, director of LUNAFEST film WHEN YOU CLEAN A STRANGER'S HOME, and members of her cast will also attend and participate in a special Q&A after the screenings. This year's films are told from various perspectives that champion women and gender nonconforming individuals, highlighting their aspirations, accomplishments, resilience, strength, and connection.
About the Nonprofits:
Austin Bat Cave works with young authors ages six to 18 in Central Texas, providing programs in creative writing, journalism, college essay writing, resume writing, expressive journaling, and more. They strive to make their programs safe and accessible for all students and prioritize partnerships with Title 1 schools and communities with limited creative arts programming access.
Chicken & Egg Pictures supports women nonfiction filmmakers whose artful and innovative storytelling catalyzes social change. They envision an inclusive media industry in which women and gender nonconforming filmmakers, representing a range of experiences and backgrounds, are fully supported to realize their artistic goals and build fulfilling careers in the documentary film industry.
