LUNAFEST®, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, will be hosted by Dayton Women’s Rights Alliance at the Neon Movies in Dayton on March 24.
This unique film festival highlights talented women directors through eight short films ranging from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as immigration, racism, sexism, growing up, and growing old. The films are not rated but are more suitable for ages 13 and up.
The Dayton Women's Rights Alliance, a local organization that works to promote and protect the rights of all women through education and activism is hosting LUNAFEST for their 10th year. This year’s program will also include another film with local stories produced by Chinonye Chukwu (of Pens to Pictures fame) and Nancy Grigsby from the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. A short discussion period will follow for those interested in staying.
All proceeds from LUNAFEST will go to the Ohio Domestic Violence Network and Chicken & Egg Pictures, a nonprofit organization that supports women nonfiction filmmakers whose artful and innovative storytelling catalyzes social change. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women®, has raised more than $4.7 Million for nonprofit organizations across the US and Canada.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 general admission.
