Our Story. Our Mission.
Back in 1999, LUNA® was introduced as the very first nutrition bar for women, crafted specifically to nourish the well-being of all women, no matter their color, size, gender expression, ability, or who they love.
That vision inspired us to create LUNAFEST® in 2001, the world’s first all-women traveling film festival. For the past 22 years, we’ve elevated a powerful and diverse set of women filmmakers and shone a spotlight on stories that bring us closer together and make us see our own world differently.
Our first event was a small but hopeful screening in California. Since then, we’ve celebrated and shared the work of more than 180 filmmakers, raising over $7.5 million for local nonprofits.
We are proud and humbled to have given women the opportunity to tell their stories and to have opened the door for filmmakers who might not otherwise have been given the chance to show their art. We are honored to have empowered and supported women for the past 22 years.
