Frederike studied theater at AADA in New York, performing in several plays and short films before moving to Paris to study filmmaking. After graduating she moved to Brussels where she started working in film production. In 2013 she directed her first short film Malakim, which won the award for best fiction short in Shanghai. Frederike’s third short film, Nkosi Coiffure has screened at many festivals such as Tribeca, Valladolid and Flickerfest, so far winning three awards in Valladolid, Brussels and Washington. Frederike is currently writing her first feature film Binti, with funding from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund, as well as shooting a documentary, Si-G.

After a fight with her boyfriend in the street, a woman escapes into a hair salon in Brussels.
