Born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland, Isold Uggadottir came to New York City in 2001 to pursue a master's in Interactive Telecommunications at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. From NYU her fascination with visual mediums lead her to the Emmy Award winning Partisan Pictures where she has been editing documentary films for the past few years. Isold's directorial debut, Family Reunion, has been awarded grants from the San Francisco Frameline Film and Video Completion fund, the Icelandic memorial fund of Margrét Björgólfsdóttir and The Icelandic Film Fund. Family Reunion was nominated for the Icelandic Academy Awards for best short film in November 2006 and received the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the Atlanta Film Festival 2007.
